Dream Horse Cookie Recipe

3 sticks margarine
3 cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
6 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup evaporated milk

Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in large bowl and set aside. In large mixing bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture and mild alternatively to sugar mixture until all ingredients are blended together. Chill dough for a minimum or 2 hours, or overnight.

Roll out dough on a floured surface to the desired thickness. (we recommend 1/4 or 3/8 inches thick) ** Here's a great tip for getting the cookie dough evenly rolled out at the correct thickness. Buy a wooden dowel rod 1/4 or 3/8 inches, cut in half, place on either side of regular rolling pin and roll the cookie dough in between, using the dowels to let you know when the dough is the correct thickness. Cut out the horse shapes, place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes, until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges. (Baking times may vary depending upon the oven.)

This recipe works great because it is not crumbly and will stand up to children's decorating attempts. The rest is up to you! Supply squirt cans of frosting, or use food color and powdered sugar to make glazes the kids can paint onto their cookies. Add small bowls of coconut, chocolate chips, nuts, colored sugars, whatever you like! Cover the floor with a painters cloth and clean-up will be easy.
